Staff members Dennis Peters and Sandra Rusnak have just completed 8 days of financial institution training at the Wisconsin Bankers Association Loan and Deposit Compliance Schools covering Federal and State level current topics. This training provided updates to the various loan and deposit regulations affecting financial institutions, the current trends in compliance, Risk Assessment Practices and the elements in structuring a sound compliance program. PKC would like to thank Dennis and Sandie for their hard work and diligence in completing these programs.
PKC Consulting is pleased to welcome Sandie Rusnak to our team of professionals. Sandie brings over 20 years of experience in the banking industry to PKC. She will be responsible for loan compliance and review. Primarily, Sandie will be leading our team of financial institution consultants and will seek to grow and expand that department. Her previous experiences working with credit administration, loan review, loan loss calculation, problem loan reporting, and compliance will allow PKC to expand our current services offered to area Financial Institutions. PKC Consulting would like to extend congratulations to two of its staff members on their recent accomplishments.
Beth Mickelson was recently promoted to Senior Manager and will be responsible for the General Accounting Department. Her new duties include handling work flow and supervising employees in this deparment. Beth has worked hard for PKC for many years and is a valuable member of our team. We are very proud of how hard she works to better herself and PKC and look forward to her leadership in this new opportunity.
Renae Heesch recently passed all three parts of the Special Enrollment Exam to become an Enrolled Agent with the IRS. An Enrolled Agent is a registered tax preparer before the IRS. Her enrollment is pending IRS approval. Renae speciailizes in individual tax return preparation. This new title will give her additional knowledge and credibility to lead our tax return department forward.
PKC’s Owner Sheri Knope recently was a featured seminar speaker at the ACFE (Association of Certified Fraud Examiners) at their recent conference in San Diego, CA. The conference was held June 12-17. Sheri’s seminar was titled, “Community Banks – Follow the Money to Fraud”. The presentation taught the red flags of community bank fraud through case studies and described the methods to detect fraud and prevent it from bringing down the community bank.
After the recent speaking engagement, Sheri Knope received a letter from James Ratley, CFE, President and CEO of ACFE expressing gratitude for her hard work and preparation for her presentation. The conference in San Diego was the largest gathering of anti-fraud professionals in the world with more than 2300 in attendance. PKC would like to congratulate Sheri on this honor.

Dennis Peters comes to PKC Consulting with 15 years of community banking experience as COO, Compliance Officer, Physical Security Officer, and Information Security Officer. His skills include project planning, development of Information Systems Policy & Procedures, Hardware/Software Procurement, Supervision of Technology Service Providers, Information’s Systems Security Policy and Procedure Development, Risk Assessment. He has previously conducted core system processing conversions for ITI, Jack Henry, and Precision Financial Processing Systems.
Tracey Pierce has previously serviced as CFO, Physical Security Officer, and Information Security Officer in various community banks. She has over 15 years experience in the banking industry. Tracey specializes in project planning, management, and administration, Information systems policy and procedures, risk assessment, and supervision of technology service providers.

This holiday season, PKC Consulting is working with the La Crosse Jaycees to help area children through the Toys for Tots program. The program provides toys for children agres 0-12 who qualify. This year they are hoping to reach nearly 2000 children. PKC has a giving tree located in our office. Clients, employees, and guests are welcome to take a tag from the tree and return with a gift for a needy child. The Toys for Tots program also accepts used toys in good condition that can be resold to families as well. Questions? Sheri Knope CPA, CIA, CFE, CFF serves as the Accounting Careers Committee Co-Chair for the Wisconsin Institute of Certified Public Accountants (WICPA). The goal of the Accounting Careers Committee is to promote, educate and excite students about a CPA’s changing role and unlimited career opportunities. The committee collaborates with WICPA staff on programs to promote accounting career awareness. Sheri will be speaking at two engagements, and she is always eager to speak about topics such as accounting, fraud prevention and detection, and owning a small business to your organization or educational institution.
